As a Registered Nurse for the Northport VA Medical Center, working in our long term care units, you will be making a difference in the lives of the Veterans that served our country while reaping Federal government employee benefits!

There are MANY openings in the following units:

Many shifts, hours and flexibilities are available.

North Fork/South Fork (CLC 1 & CLC 2) - long term care geriatric units. Veterans have multiple co-morbidities; require assistance with daily activities.

The Island (CLC 3) - geriatric psych population/locked unit. Veterans have multiple co-morbidities; require assistance with daily activities.

The Lighthouse (CLC4) - mixed population. Veterans need sub-acute rehabilitation services or are receiving palliative care and multiple co-morbidities and require assistance with daily activities.

  • This is a full-time, 40 hour per week position
  • Work Schedule: many shifts available.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

  • United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
  • Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia.

Grade Determinations:

  • The selected candidate's education and length of nursing practice (experience) will be considered by a Board.

BENEFIT INFORMATION:

EDRP ELIGIBLE:

  • This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan reimbursement program. To participate in the program, you must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA Policy 1021 and submit your application within four months of appointment. The final award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) is determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services office.

To ensure compliance with an applicable preliminary nationwide injunction, which may be supplemented, modified, or vacated, depending on the course of ongoing litigation, the Federal Government will take no action to implement or enforce the COVID-19 vaccination requirement pursuant to Executive Order 14043 on Requiring Coronavirus Disease 2019 Vaccination for Federal Employees.
