Responsibilities:

Assist in providing quality patient care while maintaining a positive level of interaction with facilities and clients, under the direction of Encore Rehabilitation Services licensed Respiratory Therapist or Center Manager. The Certified and/or Registered Respiratory Therapist adheres to applicable state regulation concerning respiratory therapy.
Under general supervision and medical direction performs respiratory care related procedures. Exercises considerable judgment in accordance with physician’s treatment plan and within the scope of departmental policies and procedures. Assesses resident’s condition, administers prescribed therapy and aerosolized medications, observes and records patient’s progress and response to therapy modalities including adverse reactions to drugs and therapy. Provides in- service training to patients, family members, and nursing home staff. Scope of practice is primarily adult and geriatric residents. Utilizes knowledge of the principles of growth and development appropriate to the patient’s age to ensure that care provided meets the unique, physical and psychological needs of the resident. Involves appropriate parties (e.g., patient’s family or nursing home staff) in the assessment, treatment, and continuing care of the patient, as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Requires graduation from a Respiratory Therapy program accredited by CoARC (Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care).
  • Candidates must also be eligible to take or have successfully completed the NBCRC examinations for Certified Respiratory Therapist or Registered Respiratory Therapist, and possess a license (if applicable by the state) as a Certified Respiratory Therapist or Registered Respiratory Therapist by the state in which he or she is in practice.
  • CPR certification or complete training.
