What you will be doing
This role is within Inventory management team within Supply chain technology group. Our team strives to achieve adaptive, resilient, and efficient inventory flow with help of modern technologies and data. Many thousands of items (SKUs) move through Albertsons’s vast supply chain network on daily basis, which makes this position both important and fascinating.
This is a key role to guarantee our success and fulfil our ambition of achieving the transformation of the enterprise-wide inventory management in adequate time frame. As a lead technical program manager in the team, you will have the full support of other members and leadership to delivering the milestones. Following traits will set you apart:
- You are perpetually focused on minimizing the delivery time, with efficient utilization of resources.
- You continuously scan and eliminate delivery risks by soliciting team’s help, but not afraid to escalate upward.
- You can describe up-to-date and accurate status of the project at any given time, in no more than few sentences.
The position will be based in Pleasanton, California or Plano, Texas.
Main responsibilities
Planning
- Establish and maintain portfolio roadmap for the Inventory management function in collaboration with product lead and technical lead.
- Help with resource planning and determine cost and funding requirements for the portfolio delivery.
- Create delivery plan that optimally balances influencing factors - external dependencies, risk of unknowns, team competency and capacity, scope, and time to market. And then maintain it to be always up to date based on reality on the ground.
- Plan to shorten the critical path of delivery – parallelize the tasks where possible, eliminate wasteful activities, etc.
Risk Management
- Own the risk management plans, with up to date understanding of risks and mitigation steps for each.
- Be the first responder to project delivery risks identified by the team, escalate them further up to leadership chain in timely manner, when appropriate.
- Facilitate recurrent and/or on-demand meetings among team members to assure that scope is delivered efficiently and transparently.
Tracking and communication
- Perpetually track/monitor the progress, status, and cost of ongoing initiatives
- Co-own project delivery and resource utilization KPIs with other leaders in the group
- Assure high awareness of project progress among stakeholders and leaders with efficient utilization of communication. Prepare and share projects status report weekly as well as promptly answer any on-demand requests for related metrics.
The salary range is $ 133,600 to $ 190,000 annually. Starting salary will vary based on criteria such as location, experience, and qualifications. There may be flexibility for exceptional candidates.

What we are searching for
- Experience planning and managing multiple projects and workstreams simultaneously.
- Deep understanding of project management methodologies and principles – Scrum, Kanban, Waterfall, SAFe, etc.
- Familiarity of tools pertaining to task, project, portfolio, and strategy management – JIRA, Jira Align, MS Project, etc.
- Great grasp of project management techniques, rituals, and terms – road mapping, Gantt charts, critical path analysis, retrospectives, backlog tracking, daily stand ups etc.
- Hands-on with office apps especially PowerPoint & Excel
- Superior articulation skills to effortlessly get point across and influencing skills to get things done.
- Ability to work with large, matrix, geographically dispersed and virtual teams comprising contractors, consultant and full-time employees.
- Previous experience managing projects in Retail Companies is a plus.
- Basic understanding of cloud computing, data engineering and data science will come handy working with engineers.
