Position Summary:


Provides speech-language/swallowing evaluation and treatment, pursuant to the objectives and policies of the medical center.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

One to two years experience in communication/ swallowing disorders preferred. Clinical Fellowship Year candidates with medical center practicum experience may be considered. CPR training will occur during hospital orientation and must be maintained during employment. Verbal ability is necessary to understand and present oral and written material in communicating with co-workers, patients, families, and physicians. The speech-language pathologist must be able to evaluate as well as treat pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients. Each new employee who provides care to rehab in-patients must become FIM credentialed within 45 days of employment and maintain FIM Credentialing. As required by UDS, each clinician must achieve a minimal proficiency score of 80% on FIM testing which is required for credentialing. All clinical staff serving both inpatient and outpatient areas must attend evacuation training. All clinical staff must be oriented to restraint, seclusion and safety devices.
