Summary:
Demonstrates abilities in quality inspection and methods used to ensure quality control. Develops and implements processes to ensure the highest level of quality assurance possible. Capable of coordinating work of team members, providing guidance as needed based on experience in past quality assurance roles.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Coordinates and monitors work of team members to ensure maximum productivity and efficiency and provides continuous development training to team members.
  • Communicates with supervisor to determine priorities, observes work in progress and advises supervisor of issues
  • Serves as a resource to team members; provides technical supervision, answers questions and resolves quality assurance problems; demonstrates “role model” work habits and fosters teamwork within the department
  • Performs First Article, visual and dimensional inspections on a variety of products
  • Ability to perform analysis to determine the acceptability of processes; documents out-of-spec conditions
  • Works with appropriate department to clarify drawings, product specifications, and bill of materials as needed and ensure accurate documentation is in place.
  • Takes lead role working with engineering, marketing, manufacturing and purchasing staff to provide relevant ideas to resolve quality issues
  • Uses calipers, micrometers, steel rules, comparators, pin and force gauges, surface plates, drop indicators, height gauges, gauge blocks, Rockwell hardness testers, hand tools, hand trucks and various other related gauges to perform work and is proficient in Programming and operating CMM and vision measuring systems.   • Drives creation of NCMR, working with relevant internal resources to accurately identify and communicate issues to supplier/sourcing

Education & Experience:
High School Diploma (or GED equivalent) and 9-12 years experience in a related field; or Vocational School (Degree in Quality) and 6-11 years in a related field.

Has a continuous improvement mentality, looking to improve quality processes and team effectiveness; conducts on-the-job training and provides constructive feedback to employees; interprets engineering drawings and/or product specifications; experience gathering monthly quality data and compiling reports as needed.

Computer Skills:
Strong Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Other Skills:
Ability to enhance team morale, discuss issues and suggestions with supervisor and follow up with team members; ability to develop product inspection and sampling plans under guidance of supervisor; ability to perform layout inspections using a coordinate measuring machine.

Work Environment:
Quality Control- Fast paced standing on concrete floors for up to 10 hours per day. Exposure to loud noise. Functional vision and hearing required. Physical Demand: Medium, lifting up to 70 lbs., pushing/pulling up to 70 lbs.
