Description:
Scarborough High School is looking to hire a dynamic, self-directed educator to help build our Engineering course offerings and enhance our current STEM curriculum. Candidates must be ready to inspire curiosity, perseverance, and risk-taking in students to solve complex challenges utilizing the engineering design process. Candidates must be collaborators, creative and practical problem solvers, and able to generate and implement ideas that will advance STEM programming and opportunities at SHS.
We are looking for an individual to help collaborate with current STEM teachers to grow our current STEM offerings. SHS has designed our STEM pathways to include four components: Computer Science/Coding, Robotics, Engineering, and Business. This position would be focused on our Engineering and Robotics pathways. Anticipated courses to be taught in the 2023-2024 school year include: Introduction to Engineering Design (multiple sections), Basic Civil and Mechanical Engineering Projects, Introduction to Robotics, and Advanced Robotics.
As a teacher of robotics and engineering, you will be mentoring high school students via hands-on training, class demonstrations, and lectures on the skills needed to successfully design, implement and build solutions to engineering and technology projects. A variety of digital and manual resources are available, and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to shape the direction and upkeep of these resources.
Qualifications:
Maine Certification in Science (Physical Science Preferred) HS STEM experience preferred
