The Superintendent of Schools announces the following position within the Fall River Public School System:


Position:
Student Information Systems Data Manager


Job Description: The role of the SIS Data Manager is to improve learning outcomes for students by servicing and maintaining the district information database and software for management, reporting, and planning purposes.


Performance Responsibilities:

  • Enters and manages student data in SIS, including enrollments, withdrawals, student/teacher/room schedules, transcripts, test scores, immunizations and student and staff demographical data.
  • Monitors the entry of attendance and grades by teachers into SIS.
  • Manages daily Attendance activity, and monitors student absences for correct coding. Prepares student attendance and verifies accuracy of records.
  • Employs the SIS program to generate reports to comply with the requirements of the Fall River Public Schools, administrators, local and state agencies, as well as the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE).
  • Utilizes the computerized student information management system (PowerSchool) to maintain a database of all relevant student information, including demographic data, emergency/medical information, class course schedule, attendance, discipline, grades and entry/withdrawal records.
  • Prepares reports and reconciles manual and computer reports monthly.
  • Prepares and establishes master schedules showing courses, room assignments, periods, teachers, and other relevant information; runs student schedules and inputs required changes and corrections
  • Performs advanced scheduling which includes assisting administrators in the scheduling process, identifying and resolving scheduling conflicts
  • Responsible for identifying errors and reconciliation of required state reports (PMR, SAR, EC, Retention/Promotion, Dropout Data, AIG, etc.) in the State Reporting System in SIS. Prepares and distributes academic related reports
  • Records and maintains student conduct records including disciplinary actions and suspensions, and prepares periodic statistical reports as appropriate
  • Troubleshoots and provides technical support for SIS within the school; serves as the primary contact and act as a liaison to the district SIMS Coordinator to solve more complex data problems
  • Serves on various school related committees as needed, attends and participates in meetings as appropriate.
  • Attends seminars, conferences, workshops, classes, lectures, etc., as appropriate, to enhance and maintain knowledge of trends and developments in the field of database management, with specific emphasis on use of the student information management system
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Knowledge of computers, databases, and office practices.
  • High Level of accuracy in database entry, management, and maintenance.
  • Administrative skills to interpret and apply reporting requirements governing enrollment/withdrawal, attendance, immunization and health records, Individual Education Plans (IEP’s) and accommodations.
  • Strong communication skills for use with school personnel, students, parents and outside agencies.
  • Ability to perform common arithmetical calculations and functions.
  • Strong experience with software and Office applications for data entry, reporting, word processing, desktop publishing, spreadsheets and SIS programs.
  • Time management skills to structure and prioritize tasks to meet expectations and deadlines.
  • Adheres to information confidentiality protocols.
  • Has the ability to work independently with limited supervision without specific instructions.
  • Able to make decisions and problem solve issues with available data and information.

The Superintendent of Schools reserves the right to waive a position qualification or determine that there is an acceptable alternative to that qualification. If the Superintendent intends to waive a qualification, such intent will be shared with the Fall River School Committee.

Supervises:

Terms of Employment: Salary and benefits to be negotiated. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be established within an individual contract. Salary Range is 65,000__75,000
