Title: Victim Services Program Assistant

Department: Administration

Exemption: Non-Exempt

Supervisor: CEO

DESCRIPTION:

This position will assist the VSFS department and provide day to day report to VSP Coordinator with duties related to provide service to families at risk, case management, outreach and educational/training services, advocacy for victims, and other duties to promote and enhance the VSP.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor degree in social services and six months of experience with advocacy, preferably working directly with victims and/or families at risk or four years of related experience handling 20 or more caseloads per day; bilingual preferred.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Maintain statistics on number of client served and services provided as well as compile and submit written monthly reports on program activities in a timely manner
  • Able to obtain and maintain 20 or more caseloads per day effectively
  • Provide direct services to primary and/or secondary victims involved in domestic violence, stalking, sexual assault, and other grant-funded crimes
  • Initiate intake and assessment of service needs with adult family member
  • Advocates for family at risk victims by assisting withscheduling various appointments
  • Arrange for and/or provide transportation for clients to and from appointments and meetings necessary for reaching self-sufficiency and independence
  • Reporting directly to the VSFS Coordinator on day to day operation as well as under supervision of the CEO
  • Provide report in a timely manner to VSP Coordinator and/or CEO as necessary for accomplishment of the assigned task.
  • Make progress notes on services provided and develop plan for self-sufficiency
  • Inputting client data into electronic RPMS database system
  • Cross training with other VSP staff and/or other NUI program
  • Provide face to face communication with other VSP staff and/or CEO
  • Attend VSP meetings and NUI staff meetings
  • Establish relations with various victim crime entities, such as state law enforcement. Maintain affiliation with domestic violence task force through limited participation in task force meetings if necessary, in hopes of increasing NUI referrals
  • Able to work effectively under the tight deadline.
  • Maintaining strict confidentiality.
  • Other duties as assigned.
