Position Overview:

This position is responsible for handling incoming calls for the Medical Assistant triage department, AKA as Clinical Navigator (CN). This position consists of assisting patients/callers with basic triage or emergency questions following established protocols. The CN, will also record communication notes of patients' medical needs and/or concerns; record/task information into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) for provider to assess. The position will also consist in submitting Laboratory, Radiology including but not limited to processing prescription refills and prior authorizations within established protocols. Occasionally assist with processing scanning documents into the patients EMR. Must be Bilingual.

Essential Functions:

• Answer incoming phones calls in a timely and professional manner and assist patients with basic triage or emergency questions following procedures
• Return patient messages within 24 hours
• Manage patient health concerns and symptoms via a telephone interaction utilizing physician-approved protocols for the assessment and management of a range of symptoms
• Notate patient questions and/or medical concerns and input information into UroChart
• Schedule appointments and testing as needed
• Complete prior authorizations for prescriptions
• Send prescriptions to patient's pharmacy and/or specialty pharmacy as needed, manually and via electronic
• Assist in sending laboratory or radiology referrals as needed
• Familiar with submission process according with contracted vendors
• Review and submit provider ordered prescriptions in accordance with established guidelines
• Educate patient and/or family members about diagnostic procedures, medications, nutrition and maintenance of health and wellness
• Participate in educational activities and attend all mandatory meetings set by management
• Complete all annual corporate training requirements
• Conduct self in accordance with Las Vegas Urology's employee manual
• Maintain strictest confidentiality; adhere to all HIPAA guidelines and regulations
• Assist with any and other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

• Certified Medical Assistant Certification or ABR-OE certification from the AAMA
• At least 1-year experience as a Medical Assistant
• Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19
• Bilingual Spanish a plus

• Possess strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
• Perform a variety of duties, able to multi-task under high stress / pressure
• Excellent customer service and communication skills with patients and providers
• Highly detail-oriented
• Ability to effectively function in emergency situations.
• Experienced with utilizing e-scribe and EHR/EMR
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Outlook, and the ability to operate basic office equipment.
• Ability to work in a Team environment

Physical Demands:

Requires standing and walking for periods of time. Some bending, lifting and stretching required. Manual dexterity required for use of telephone and computer keyboard. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Position requires the ability to work in stressful situations. May involve contact with patients.
