Job description
In anticipation of NASA awarding the Human Landing System (HLS) Sustaining Lunar Development (SLD) contract in the near future, Dynetics, a wholly owned subsidiary of Leidos, is seeking a Software Engineer that is seeking new opportunities to become a Software Safety Engineer to promote HLS and other programs as part of a diverse team that develops lunar landers, other cislunar spacecraft, and a wide range of critical technologies for civil, military, and commercial space programs.
This position will assure the safety of various Dynetics Space Systems Division programs using NASA software safety standards. Tasks include: developing software safety plans and standards, working with the customer system safety and software safety organizations, working with system safety to evaluate systems for hazards, developing software safety necessities, ensuring the software safety necessities are implemented and tested in the software systems, working with suppliers to ensure supplier products and processes meet program software safety standards, and generating software safety assessment reports.
Basic Qualifications
- Candidates will possess a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, software engineering, computer science, or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited institutewith at least 2+ years of applicable past work.
- Candidate will demonstrate basic competency in real-time safety or mission critical software systems development using languages such as Rust, C, C++, or Ada.
- Strong systematic skills along with a personal drive for details and quality workmanship are necessity.
- Candidate will possess an aptitude for the technical skills needed for software safety.
- The applicant will demonstrate familiarity with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Candidate will have proven leadership skills with the ability to affect outcomes including the ability to persuade on technical topics.
- Being self-motivated, paying attention to details, and working under deadlines are key elements of this position as well.
Candidates will be residents of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.
Other Qualifications
Preferred candidates may have past work and/or working knowledge of the following:
- Past work for human rated aerospace system software in compliance with NASA NPR-7150.2D, RTCA DO-178C, or similar software engineering standards
- Agile software methodologies (e.g. Scrum or Scaled Agile)
- Multiple programming languages
- Working as part of multi-company and multi-organizational development teams

Candidate must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance or meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance.
