Supervises: Assist Executive Director with Co-Supervising Advocates
General Description:
The Victim Advocate Program Director is responsible for assisting survivors of domestic and sexual violence with program services, advocacy, and support to survivors qualifying for the intensive support services program. The Victim Advocate Program Director is responsible for assisting the Executive Director in the supervision and oversight of services provided by advocates to domestic/sexual violence/child abuse/ neglect survivors.
The Victim Advocate Program Director will supervise and provide leadership to the advocacy team; coordinate, develop, and deliver domestic violence and violence prevention education and training to community members, staff and volunteers.
Specific Responsibilities:
1. The Victim Advocate Program Director is responsible for assisting survivors interested in applying for Crime Victim’s Compensation, Safe at Home Program, or signing up for MOVANS.
2. The Victim Advocate Program Director is responsible for meeting with each client in the shelter within one week of entrance to provide a quality assurance check, safety check, and assess any client needs.
3. The Victim Advocate Program Director will provide direct services to survivors participating in the intensive services program. To include crisis intervention, safety planning, group, one on one support, and personal advocacy including legal and medical.
4. The Victim Advocate Program Director will be responsible for conducting weekly support group meetings to those survivors participating in the program. The support groups will directly address issues involving past abuse, substance abuse, and future risks of domestic violence.
5. The Victim Advocate Program Director will assist in managing client complaint and grievances in collaboration with the Executive Director.
6. The Victim Advocate Program Director is responsible for assisting the Executive Director in recruiting, training, and supervising qualified staff to ensure the effective delivery of services to survivors through crisis intervention, safety planning, personal advocacy and assessing client needs.
7. The Victim Advocate Program Director is responsible for conducting routine case readings and meeting with Victim Advocates to provide feedback and assure program and service compliance.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1. Knowledge of social service theory methods, and practices.
2. Knowledge of case management techniques and practices.
3. Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques and practices.
4. Knowledge of purpose, goals, mission, policies, procedures and resources of the agency.
5. Ability to establish and maintain collaborative and effective working relationships with community resources and organizations. Mobilize other potential resources to assist the survivor.
6. Knowledge of available community and agency resources as well as eligibility requirements, especially agencies located in the identified catchment area.
7. Ability to maintain client confidentiality and client files according to program policy, professional standards, Missouri state law, and Missouri Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence (MCADSV) standards.
8. Organize workflow and ensure that employees understand their duties or delegated tasks.
9. Experience and ability to monitor employee productivity in a professional work setting.
Requirements:
1. Applicants must possess a Bachelor’s Degree, with a preference of a Master’s Degree, in social work, criminal justice, psychology, sociology, or related field.
2. Applicants must have a minimum of one-year professional experience as a Victim Advocate.
Hours:
This is a full-time, exempt position and requires a minimum of 40 hours/week. The Victim Advocate Program Director works in an office environment and requires limited local travel with some evening and weekend hours.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $24.00 - $28.00 per hour
