Y-Winners is looking for a part time staff to assist with after school programming for our junior high age youth. Hours are 3-6 pm M/T/TH/F and 2-6 pm W (with some additional opportunities for hours on early out days)
Summary: Y-Winners Program Instructor delivers excellent service to all program participants, prepares for and instructs program activities, supervises children, and communicates with them about programs. The Y-Winners Program Instructor models caring, honesty, respect and responsibility to the program participants, members, and other staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Ensure all members and guests are welcomed and treated in a manner such that they enjoy the best possible experience at the Two Rivers YMCA.
- Implement the Y’s Core Values and the 40 Developmental Assets into activities.
- Be physically and mentally present, alert, and engaged while on duty.
- Prepare curriculum for Y-Winners programming utilizing existing resources and working with supervisor to develop or obtain necessary supplies.
- Arrive on time and have program ready to start at designated time.
- Assure that all cleanup duties are cared for following program.
- Communicate effectively to all program participants, including but not limited to children and caregivers.
- Carry out responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws, including ensuring proper usage of facilities and equipment.
- Manage all member and participant inquiries and complaints as effectively as possible. If follow up is needed, communicate situation to supervisor in a timely manner.
- Use professional conduct when dealing with participants, members, non-members and other staff.
- Attend regular staff meetings and trainings, and keep all required certifications current.

- All members and participants will be greeted and feel welcome and included.
- The YMCA organization, staff, and programs will be represented in a positive manner.
- The overall quality of the YMCA and its programs and services will be viewed as excellent by members and guests, leading to higher satisfaction and participation rates.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervises program participants and their activities in family programming. Communicates all activities with Youth Development Director.
Qualification Requirements: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and/or Experience: Must have experience working with children ages infant to 10 years old.
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, curriculum, policy/procedure manuals, and financial documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from members and non-members of the YMCA. Ability to communicate effectively to children, parents, members and non-members, and other staff.
Mathematical Skills: Must have basic mathematical skills.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Complete background check, child abuse prevention training, CPR/AED certification for infant, child and adult, and blood borne pathogens.
