Milestones is a therapeutic transition program that serves students ages 15-19 who are finishing high school or starting college. Our students have attended prior treatment programs, and for various reasons need the structure and support of a transition program. Milestones students attend the local public high school or community college, obtain jobs in the community, learn independent living skills, receive individual, group, and family therapy, all while living in our cozy homes near downtown Kalispell. Our homes are staffed 24/7, and while students are given independence as they work through the different Milestones, staff are always available.
Responsibilities:
POSITION SUMMARY:
This is a full-time (32-40 hours) position with benefits. Responsible for fostering relationships, guiding adventure outings, and upholding consistent program expectations with adolescents in a therapeutic residential setting.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Teach and model healthy boundaries, lifestyle, and life skills.
  • Supervise and support household responsibilities.
  • Develop and model positive relationships with students.
  • Cultivate self-confidence, maturity, and accountability in students.
  • Mediate peer relationships.
  • Transport residents to appointments and activities.
  • Participate in the daily schedule with the students including fitness times, chores, meal preparation and planned evening activities.
  • Supervision of students during outings.
  • Thoughtful risk management in all programming.
  • Participate in weekly treatment team meetings as needed to collaborate with clinical staff to ensure the best therapeutic outcomes for students.
  • Timely documentation with notes and BestNotes platform.
  • Mindful adherence to all Milestones policies and procedures.
  • Support of the Milestones mission statement, and by extension, the general program structure, rules and limits.
Qualifications:
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Interest/Experience working with adolescents.
  • Ability to remain in control during stressful situations, and maintain a professional demeanor at all times.
  • Attention to detail and organization are critical skills at Milestones.
  • Flexibility and the ability to adapt in a dynamic work environment.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Team player with a desire to add value to the program and Milestones community.

  • Understanding and practicing appropriate boundaries is essential.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Experience in youth services and/or outdoor recreation equal to a minimum of two years. College degree or equivalent experience are preferred.
