Job Summary:

Laboratory Scientists works to analyze a variety of biological specimens. They are responsible for performing scientific testing on samples and reporting results to physicians. The Laboratory collaborates very closely with physicians and nursing in diagnosing and monitoring disease processes, as well as monitoring the effectiveness of therapy. The applicant is expected to work independently and as a team member in the collection and laboratory analysis of blood and body fluid specimens. Shifts will be primarily nights with a rotating 7 on 7 off work schedule.

Additional pay:

• $4.50 night shift differential
• $1.00 weekend shift differential

Licensure and Certification:

• Medical Laboratory Scientist Certification MLS (ASCP) OR Equivalent
• Accepted Certifications: MT, MLT, MLS, and CLS

Experience:

• One (1) or more years of hospital laboratory experience is required.

Education:

· Baccalaureate degree in Medical Lab Science (MLS) or a related science is required.

Knowledge and Skills:

• Uses established methods and techniques for laboratory analysis.
• Follows established procedures and protocol for all test results which fall into the critical value.
• Adheres to strict safety regulations insuring appropriate protection against blood borne pathogens and other infectious agents for the laboratory staff, the hospital staff and the patient.
• Knowledge of industry standards and current trends.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent intradepartmental communication skills and interaction with patients and their families; hospital and medical staff.
• Analytical skills.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $26.10 - $37.50 per hour
